1. I keep getting Messenger POP Up windows when surfing?

You can prevent WinPopUPs by disabling the Messenger service, however, this may leave you exposed to other security issues so this approach by itself is not recommended.

Note: Some applications: Anti-virus, SQL Job Scheduler, UPS systems, etc.. use Messenger alerts to notify you are critical system events. If you use such products, then you should leave Messenger enabled and use a firewall/router to block the PopUPs.

Here are the procedures for disabling the Messenger service on Windows 2000 and XP systems:

• Click: Start/Settings/Control Panel
• Open: Administrative Tools
• Open: Services
• Open: 'Messenger' Service
• Click: Stop button
• Change 'Startup Type' to MANUAL
• Click OK to close everything

2. Is Modem-On-Hold (MOH) supported in your V92 locations?

Yes, modem on hold is supported in many areas, to view what areas, please contact us to see if it is available in your area.

To use MOH the user must have a V.92 Modem, Callwaiting on their phone line, and the NetWaiting or a MOH software applet. Most V.92 modems include the applet with their CD.

Your dial-up username is usually your first initial and your last name. For instance:

If your name was John Smith, your username would be jsmith@ctechinternet.com, and your password would be whatever you initially set it up as.

8. When running the software from NT 4.0 I get an error

ERROR

Entry Point Not Found

The procedure entry point Process32Next could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll

RESOLUTION

You will need to install winsock 2.0 and RAS(Remote Access Service) package on the windows NT.

Winsock 2.0 can be downloaded from microsoft website (www.microsoft.com). And RAS will be in the installation CD for Windows NT.

9. How do I uninstall Web Accel Manually?

You should run the uninstall.exe file in C:\Program Files\SlipStream Web Accelerator\uninstall\uninstall.exe.

Your web accelerator may be located in a directory other than SlipStream Web accelerator based on the name that you use for the accelerator program.

or if you are comfortable editing the registry you can do this

1. "Start" menu, "Run", then type "regedit"
2. Go into HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE
3. Delete the entire key called "SlipStream"
4. Delete all the files in the installation directory (normally c:\program files\$BRANDED_CLIENT_NAME\$
5. Remove all shortcuts via the "Start" menu, "Programs", "Startup" and then right-click on SlipStream Web Accelerator (or the name of the branded client) and then delete this shortcut.
   
   Any other shortcuts can be removed in a similar manner.

10. When I uninstall Web Accel or disable it I can't surf?

The easiest thing is to have them select TOOLS, INTERNET OPTIONS, CONNECTIONS in IE then remove the proxy checkmark under the dial-up settings box and LAN box.
