Where is it Available? High Speed Wireless Internet is now available East of Bloomington, IL. The wireless access is available in the following towns:
How Does it Work?
We're using a 2.4GHz technology that is fixed wireless. What this means is that a small antenna must be mounted near your house (on an existing tower, pole, or to the side of your home/building). A basic line of sight is necessary to our tower. Our signal is not affected by weather like many DirecTV or Satellite Internet services. The antenna is about 12 inches square and about 4 inches deep (pictured right). One Ethernet cable will run from your PC or Router outside to this mounted antenna. In order for the wireless access to work properly, a basic line of sight must be available to our wireless tower. Geography and elevation both play a role in signal strength, but weather does not. Current Packages:
* A one-time $249 setup is required for complete installation of antenna, limited wiring, and setting up one PC on wireless connection. More installation/cable fees may be incurred for special situations (pole mounting, extra cable, etc. -- site survey should determine any additional costs). Equipment is neither sold nor rented, but is a part of the monthly service fee and must be returned to C:Tech when service is discontinued. For more details, see attached pages with contract. Speeds listed are burstable and approximate, sustained bandwidth speeds may be lower. Pricing plans subject to change.
